St. Mark’s Embraces Its Pilgrims

August 25, 2013 – We invited the St. Mark’s community, our families and friends, to travel with us to the Holy Land. Our trip officially begins September 25 in Jerusalem, but we have been preparing for over a year.

We have committed to listen to those living in the Holy Land – Christians, Jews, and Muslims – and to be willing to follow truth wherever we find it, even if it takes us outside our preconceived ideas of God and this decades long conflict.

We look forward to sharing our experiences of faith and understanding with you, our beloved communities.

And Karen W., Kenn, Kitty, Lena, Marcella, Margaret, Mark, Mary, Matt, Maureen, Miranda, Nadine, Peter, Rita, Suella, Susan, Susanne, and Walton as you prepare for your pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

We pray that this journey will be spiritually rewarding as you travel to the holy places were Jesus and his followers lived out their lives.

We pray that you will gain new perspectives on the search for a just lasting, and comprehensive peace for Palestinians and Israelis alike. As you follow the path of Jesus, will you be open to new experiences and understanding of your own spirituality?
We will with God’s help.

As you listen to those in the Holy Land, Christians, Jews, and Muslims – will you be willing to follow truth wherever you find it, even if it takes you outside your preconceived ideas of God and this decades long conflict?
We will with God’s help.

Will you use what you’ve learned to help determine what our role can be in working for peace?
We will with God’s help.

When you return will you share your experiences of faith and understanding?
We will with God’s help.
